Ayushman Bharat: ABHA Health ID cards would now be available on Google Wallet from 2025 onward

Submitted by admin on October 8th, 2024

ABHA ID cards will be available in Google Wallet next year, that is, from 2025. The National Health Authority, that oversees the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, or ABDM, has collaborated with Google’s research team and other teams to scale up the plan. Google has provided recommendations to design tools that help developers easily get integrated into the ABDM architecture. The Internet giant made this announcement on its official blog site.

According to the Google blog post, “As a result, the integrations that take up to six months can be finished and scaled in less than two weeks. Starting next year, through a partnership with Eka Care, an authorized issuer of the digital health IDs, we will be making the ABHA ID cards available on Google Wallet.”.

This will allow over 600 million ABHA ID holders to access their cards quickly and easily on their smartphones, it added.

Goal: Using the health ID, patients can easily transfer and receive their medical records including lab results and prescriptions with affiliated healthcare facilities across the country, it said.

Security: For the abovementioned sensitive health information, adding or using an ABHA Health ID through Google Wallet is authenticated through a fingerprint, PIN, or passcode.

ABHA number: The Ayushman Bharat Health Account has a provision for unique identifiers that integrate all of a person’s health records under one umbrella. It is to enable a digital health ecosystem and support the process of digitalizing health.

A very important component of ABDM is the universal health ID under ABHA whereby advantages of India’s digital health infrastructure would be availed to every citizen. Documents required: By self-registration, the ABHA number can be available in two ways-that either through the Aadhaar number or Driving License.

To create an ABHA number with the help of an Aadhaar card, documents required are the Aadhaar number and the mobile number attached to the Aadhaar number.

Or other way, if an ABHA number is being created with the help of a Driving License, than for it the required documents include the Driving License, Name, Date of Birth, Gender. Later, closer to the future, all these methods through which identity verification takes place, will be also available.

ABHA Address: With the help of a PHR Application, one can develop an ABHA Address. In order to do this, the ABHA Mobile App is used.

An ABHA Address can be developed in two ways;

> With your assigned ABHA Number.

> By announcing your personal information on your own, like your Name, Email address/Mobile Number, Gender, etc., through a PHR application, such as the ABHA Mobile App.

ABHA Health ID Card

The ABHA Health ID Card is a new health card with a unique digital health identification number that will contain all the health information of an individual. This card envisages comprehensive digital health records of every citizen in India.

The ABHA Card is a digital health account for the people of the country, which enables them to have online access to medical requirements and necessities at the time of treatment. Additionally, it also gets healthcare providers across the nation to pay attention to your health needs.

ABHA number is a unique 14 digit number that establishes your presence digitally in the national digital health network of India, safely and reliably establishing your identity accepted across all health care service delivery entities in the country.  Sign up easily into your Personal Health Records (PHR) apps such as the ABDM ABHA application so you have easy health data sharing.

ABHA address is a unique identifier that represents as a self-selected username to share, view, and access health records digitally. Usually, it will be presented in the format of ‘your name@consent manager’.

xyz@abdm will be an example of an ABHA address when using Consent Manager provided by the ABDM for safe and free exchange of health data with adequate consent in the network of ABDM.
