The Aadhaar Card often just known as Aadhaar is Identification card prepared by Unique Identification Authority of India. This 12-digit Figure is basically an identification number and also an Identification of the Residence of an Indian. Aadhaar is today used in welfare programmes and financial operations being a unique identification number for every person in India.
Key Features
Universal Identification: Aadhaar issues a unique identification number that aims at every Indian resident regardless of their age, gender or their financial status. The Card is used as an identification document for self-enrollment in several government and private entities’ services.
Biometric Authentication: Biometric authentication is another attractive factor that separates Aadhaar from other payment card systems: the card users’ fingerprint and iris scans are required to authenticate the transaction. This feature enhances the security of transaction and reduces the cases of identity theft.
Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT): Aadhaar is associated with welfare schemes and subsidies given by the government to facilitate that the benefits be directly credited to the people’s bank accounts. This in turn assist in minimizing leakages and ensure that everyone who is supposed to benefit from the project, actually gets the benefit as intended.
E-KYC (Know Your Customer): Aadhaar helps in biometric authentication to eliminate the requirement of check and balance like having physical identification documents for availing services such as Bank account, new mobile connection and other government subsidies. This electronic version of KYC process has made the provision of the services to be easier and faster.
Digital Locker: Any Aadhaar holder has an advantage of accessing a digital locker service that is provided by UIDAI and can store and provide his/her documents and certificates. This also improves the convenience and also the need to store the physical documents that would be time consuming.
